Riverside Park Pavilion

Proposed by the Park Committee, the pavilion above was proposed for Riverside Park at the foot of Bruce Avenue. The Pavilion designed by J.C. Pennington, was planned to be constructed of reinforced concrete with a steel truss roof, covered in Spanish tile. The piers were to be faced in brick, with the arches and frieze covered with stucco, inlaid with tiles. The first floor was to be entirely covered with concrete and would have been “a delightful resting place on warm summer days, with a fine overlook over the river.”

The east half of the building would have had a lower level with restrooms. The proposal must have not had the support of the public, or have been unable to raise the funds, as the Pavilion was never built.
