One for the lost Windsor files, is this house that once belonged to Joseph Reaume of Ford City. Reaume was a builder and was was also the assessor of the town of Ford City.
The house was built to resemble houses that Reaume saw during his winters away in California. The bedroom were all located to the rear of the home in a part that could be described as an annex, separate from the living areas of the home. It was built of steel and concrete.
This one was located on the south side of Riverside Drive, the second property east of Pillette Road. Today a high rise occupies the site, but the house was gone long before that. It was likely demolished in the 1960s.
Thank you for that post, and all your others. You are doing a great service capturing lost Windsor! This Reaume house piqued my interest. I discovered that the house, which later had the address of 4789 Riverside E., was still as of 1990 or shortly later. There was a Windsor Star classified ad from Oct 30 1989 offering this “executive home” for rent at $1000/month.
If I recall, it had a red tile roof which was eye-catching against the white walls. Always a favourite of my wife and I to view on our daily drive from Riverside to downtown
