The Windsor-Walkerville Technical School – 1923 – Part II

The Auditorium, with seating for 720.

The boardroom

The woodworking shop

A typical classroom

The tool making shop

The machine shop

For anyone who went to/or worked at W. D. Lowe, I’d love to hear how the inside looked compared to these photos when you were there…

Have a great weekend, see you back here Monday!

  • I was there for 2 years , staring in '69 . It was called W. D. Lowe Tech and all guys. I remember the auditorium pretty much as the photo shows . They had the new addition at the back with modern shops by then. I recall my homeroom being in a machine shop with lathes, drills etc. with a small classroom off to one side. I also recall there was a walled interior courtyard, no roof, we used for smoking , reminiscent of a prison yard with the teachers lounge on the second floor to look down on us inmates"

  • Went there '72 to '76. Like Robert said most all modernized with newer shops with electric motors, no belts on the ceilings. Some of the teachers were from World War II and acted accordingly. Tough school. In my last year, Patterson closed and we went co-ed and by a vote, changed the school nick-name from Rough-Riders to Trojans. We all laughed at that Everyone called us the condoms. Good training...auto tech, welding, drafting, sheet-metal, foundry, test lab, carpentry, brick & cement, math, science, gym, history and social studies... got me into college then the trades at Ford.
