Happy Victoria Day everyone!

Regular readers of the site may recall the post on the boarded up Deluxe Apartments back in May, 2009.

The six-plex, after 2+ years, has met the same fate as the two houses to the north, and is now a pile of rubble. The building was demolished last Wednesday, May 18th.

As is the Windsor way, like we’ve seen time and again with demolitions, nothing is salvaged, and it all goes to the landfill. This picture shows a bathtub, fridge and stove all still this apartment. This is only one of six units.

Another one bites the dust….

There are now no buildings between Ontario Street and the St. Anne’s Grade School.

I hope the school board isn’t behind this. If they can’t afford to keep librarians on staff, they certainly can’t afford to be buying and demolishing properties 🙂

  • Let's be more positive... I'm sure a nice new building that complements it's urban surroundings is planned for the site.. I'm excited to see what's on the boards for the site!

  • Gary, I will kindly disagree. Windsorites are just as bad! Their provincial attitudes are detrimental to any progress. It is one of the reason things take so long to do here.

We ignore vast amounts of studies on progressive ideas for cities; we ignore global trends in what most people want; we piss and moan about taxes yet want our roads to be smooth as glass (why care? A car is made to be driven as a mode of transportation. Nothing more).

This site amongst others on this city show that culture and quality of life are the most importnat things in a human beings life if only we were to embrace it. Instead people moan about money going to the arts (for $1 given to the arts, $7 go back into the community) but don't mind spending money on widening another road or bailing out companies (which I agree was a good idea) about to go bankrupt. People forget that the arts are actual jobs too (no I am not an artist).

There is much more to life other than roads, garages, stucco and chain restaurants.
I guess that is it for my rant. lol
