Assumption High School

Here’s a postcard view of Assumption High School, probably early 1960’s. Look how calm and quiet Huron Church was…. is that a grassy median I spy?

The caption on this one reads:

    ASSUMPTION HIGH SCHOOL
    directed by the BASILIAN FATHERS
    WINDSOR, Ontario, CANADA

I tried looking through my info, and I couldn’t find a date or architect for the building… I believe it was built around 1955/1956.

Maybe there is an alumni out there who can chime in with the answer.

  • Love the spirit Tristan and Adam!

Grassy median was there until early 90's when the read got expanded beyond 2 lanes in each direction IIRC.

  • I graduated in 1955 . We were at the original school on the college campus . I wasn't even aware the other school was being built . I transferred there in 1953 grade 10 from St. Joseph school on West Windsor . A lot of memories of those good years . Wish there was a way to hook up with some of the others from class of 1955 . Now living in Indiana for past 21 years . Do they ever have class reunions .
    Would be fun .

  • I went to Forster High School but remember many good times
in the late 70's going to dances at Assumption. They'd have
the latest bar bands such as Crystal Palace.
