Old City Hall – 1929

Happy Friday once again, back to the old photos. This one today is features Windsor’s previous City Hall. The photo is dated November 26, 1929.

Designed by Detroit architect Albert Jordan, this building was built as the central school house in 1856. Around 1904 it became Windsor’s second City Hall, a role it served until 1954 when it was demolished and replaced with the current city hall.

Jordan, who was active in Detroit (among his Detroit works is the Gothic Fort Street Presbyterian Church at Fort & 3rd), locally was also the architect of All Saints Church and MacKenzie Hall.

Don’t forget this Sunday is Doors Open. Make sure you get out and support this event, it’s a great opportunity to visit some of Windsor’s most interesting buildings.

Have a safe weekend, see you back here Monday.
