From the September 3, 1968 issue of the Windsor Star, is this ad from Hi-Ho restaurants.
Hi-Ho was a local chain of drive-in burger joints, that was founded in 1937. A letter was sent by the owner to Walt Disney asking permission to use “Hi-Ho”. A letter was sent back telling him to go ahead, no problem. Try that today! 🙂
I’m sure some of the readers out there have some stories of the place to share, so seeing as this was before my time, and long before I was ever in Windsor, I’d love to hear any stories….

AND WHO CAN FORGET BIG SCOOP ICE CREAM PARLOUR RIGHT NEXT DOOR TO KOZAKS ON OTTAWA ST. not only the ice cream, but their cheeseburgers were the best. unique GREAT taste that the BIG burger restaurants didnt have. dont know why it went down ? lack of business obviously. im glad it was a part of my life and part of my childhood memories. enjoy what you have today, because it might not be there tomorrow.
Paulfortin1212@gmail.com the number of errors in the history of the fast food driv-n inWindsor in Windsor Ontario are to numerous for me to mention. The reason I k now this is because I am the 2nd elder of the Fortin family whos father started the Hi-Ho Curb Serv-Us driv-ins in 1937.
In 1970 I managed the Hi-Ho on Walker road with my brother Donat who ,sorry to say has passed. In 1970 I moved to B.C. for 10 years and came back to Windsor in Dec.1979. To work at the Tecumseh road location (#1)as we called it. I will do my best to set things right.thankyou
