Last Friday, I posted two old Postcards, one of which was a view of the Tecumseh DUR Station and the streetcar loop.

Bernie chimed in with the following information:

The DUR station in Tecumseh was on the north side of the CNR tracks (where Shopper Drugs stands today), was for the Windsor – Tecumseh Railway. It ran over some of the SW&A track in Windsor, along north side of Wyandotte St. to Isabelle where it went on its own right of way to Riverdale across Little River and stayed on the south side of the canal. The canal was south of Riverside Drive (the canal was between the tracks and Riverside Dr. It ran along this canal until it got to Lesperance Rd. where it turned south along Lesperance on the west side with an ditch between them, up to the CNR/GTR tracks where this station was and the tracks looped around the station. When the street cars stopped running the station building was sold and moved.

This postcard from 1908, shows a nice clear view of the station. According to Bernie’s information, The DUR station was built May 1, 1907, it was sold in 1939 to Ray Laforet who moved it somewhere in the area.

Maybe it’s still standing?

Have a safe long weekend, and note that I’m taking the weekend off too… Next new post will be on Tuesday. 🙂

  • No, it's definitely not the one by Naples. That's the old Tecumseh rail station, or a replica. I'm not sure. But not this building.

  • This building is the subject of another post somewhere else on I.M. and after some detective work a small group of us did find it out in the county in use as a residence.
