I came across this postcard a few years ago. It was simply marked “Walkerville, Ont.” and postmarked 1911. No other details.
Luckily the former town of Walkerville was fairly small in land size. The town was only 5 blocks wide, but several miles long. Development started at the river and headed south.

The big break in the mystery came from the late Walkerville Times. They ran the postcard in their paper, and one of the homeowners recognized it. The mystery was solved, as the location was across the street from the entrance to King Edward School (one block north and one street east of where I lived for 10 years!).

Fonded memories of my childhood. Used to date a girl that lived a block and half north. I'll feeling I should be down at the old Vic drinking a little green beer today.

It's amazing how changes can disguise a home. I chance to drive by these homes all the time and never would have made the connection from the old postcard. Unfortunately, the porches - particularly the one on the right - almost rob the homes of their historical appeal (from the curb, at least).
Hey Andrew. I'm out here for school. The whole working world back thatta way wasn't cutting for me. Figuring once I get all educated up (M.A and/or Phd In English Lit.) I'll head back that and start working on that dream loft. Can't tell you how different it is out here. At least I do have a hockey team to support.
