225 Giles Boulevard West – 1924

Located on the south west corner of Giles & Victoria Avenue, is the former home of William Thomas Wesgate.

Mr Wesgate built the large home in 1919 that is still standing today. He made his fortune as an ice cream manufacturer before selling his business to Borden Dairies in the late 1920s. He was originally an alderman with Ford City, becoming a member of the Board of Education after that. He became an Alderman in the City of Windsor, running unsuccessfully for mayor in 1927. He died in 1933 at age 63, but his widow remained in the house until the late 1960s.
