Sandwich Street – Walkerville – c. 1905

Image © Bernie Drouillard Collection, digitized by John Stefani

A view of Sandwich Street, in front of the Hiram Walker & Sons Distillery. This view is looking west and in the distance, you can make out the hump of the Peabody Bridge. The overhead wires of the streetcar are visible in the shot. Some impressive buildings there that are long gone from the landscape.

Hope everyone had a nice weekend, hard to believe today is December 1st.

  • Iloved driving down this part of Riverside Dr. with all the ivy covered Walker buildings. I was shocked though, when one day after an absence from that area, to find all the ivy removed! this area had a small town 'lane' feel to it, narrow and cozy.....now????
