Dillon Hall – 1928

A neat old picture of the newly opened Assumption University Classroom building on Patricia Road in Sandwich. One of the new modern civic buildings featured in a promotional booklet of the day.

I love the car and the little tiny trees…

Don’t forget the calendar is available for purchase over in the shop. They’re selling fast, don’t miss out.

  • Attended history classes there in the mid-sixties. It never heated properly in the winter. Fr. O'Meara wore his black wool overcoat during class to teach us American history. Between writing notes or exams, had to warm your hands up in your pockets. Creaky floors and those small wooden desks with the writing arm projecting out. Dusty slate chalk boards. Old marble staircase to the second floor. It was right out of Oxford or Cambridge. Hope it's still around. Wasn't it called Assumption College until the early sixties when it was officially recognized as a university?

  • This is an interesting photo. It makes one question if the closing of Patricia road was the right move. I've always wondered why this building was in the centre of what today would be called a "mega-block". Some of the best university campuses I've been on have maintained the city street network... It seems we're doing something different here!
