Riverside and Dougall – c. 1953

The picture above appeared in “Garden Gateway to Canada” published for the centennial celebration in 1954.

The caption reads as follows:

Bakery and home of Mark Richards, southeast corner of Dougall and Sandwich Street, Windsor. Mr Richards was mayor of Windsor in 1862-1863.

Strange to think of the downtown core having housing. A neat old place, and another long gone part of Windsor’s history.

  • Speaking of drive-ins, I briefly moved to the Owen Sound area from 2011 until Dec of this past year and just west of O.S is an extension town called Springmount. They still have functional drive-in screens and is still quite popular. I suppose if you're ever wanting to take a 4 hour drive..

  • I remember the drive in that was located on the land that silvercity and the shoping center is located on. I seen a few movies there. Critters 2 was one, I was only 11 and there was a topless and everyone honked the horns on the cars lol
