A neat old postcard view, this one dated 1928, of the “new” Prince Edward Hotel on Ouellette and Park. Sadly this one too is long gone. I like the little bot of artistic license take with the hustle and bustle in the foreground. My favourite is the dude in a top hat and tails. Judging by the cars in this one, the picture is probably closer to the 1924 opening then it is to the 1928 postmark on the back of the card.
Hope everyone had a good long weekend!

I still don't understand why we would get rid of such things... and in so many instances.
This building wasn't even old! It just doesn't add up.
Nevermind, found this post here: http://internationalmetropolis.com/2011/04/04/prince-edward-hotel-1954/
Good lord they sure had a sad mentality then. Still do, but not that bad! lol
The postcard has such a genteel quality to it.
I had my wedding reception there in 1954. A glamorous place for a sit-down mid-day dinner in the old fashioned way after a church ceremony. I think we had about 60 people and it cost about $250. That would be about right...$4.50 person. Good old times.
Genteel indeed. The optimism, the certainty of Windsor's prosperous future shown in this post card seems to be in stark contrast to what I gather from the news today. In the 1950s downtown was a busy and joyful place for a youngster.
