An interesting old ad. This one is from 1949, still trying to sell lots down in Southlawn Gardens. Interestingly the ad was put out by the South Windsor Development Company Limited. I have seen references to the South Windsor Development Company Limited on subdivision ads going back to the late 1920’s.
I got to thinking, there’s a giant Southlawn Gardens sign on Dougall just north of Cabana….
Interestingly the bottom of the sign reads… South Windsor Development Company Limited. According to the Yellow Pages they’re still in the Canada Building too… I wonder if they still have old records back to the 1920’s?
Maybe we need to add the South Windsor Development Company to the list of oldest business too. 😉
Happy March! Have a good weekend everyone. See you back here Monday.

Nice to read South Windsor has its own slice of local heritage to share and discuss.
Neat add.
I think I found the second house pictured here on Victoria, at the corner of Medina: http://goo.gl/maps/OfgBD
The top one could be this guy on Granada: http://goo.gl/maps/eV9q6
But like the original picture, there's too much vegetation to be accurate.
love it
"You will enjoy living here .. with all the comforts of suburban life"
"Southlawn Gardens is away from the noise, smoke and unattractive surroundings of the older sections! The air is pure, the altitude is high and restrictions are enforced!"
Awesome ad.
You know what those "restrictions" are I'm sure....
Altitude inn windsor? Did they build this neighbourhood on a garbage dump?
