Wyandotte Street East and Hall

This building on the north west corner of Wyandotte and Hall has always stood out to me as a nice example of a fairly original old commercial building. It’s manage to survive many of the insensitive renovations that have occurred over years to many buildings along that stretch of Wyandotte.

The photo above is from the Evening Record, July 1912:

Wyandotte street is becoming an important business thoroughfare. Stores are springing up all along the street. One of the lastest is the above building that is being finished up by contractor Osterhout on the Davis farm subdivision. It is a two-storey structure with flats above and stores underneath.

  • Small correction Andrew - this is the corner of Wyandotte and Hall.
That was National Variety growing up in that neighbourhood, the best corner store around!

  • The apartment with that small bay (bow?) window must have been very nice in its time - lots of light.
