Walkerville Demolition

This house, located on the east side of Monmouth, just north of the recently rehabbed Deluxe Apartments, which we looked at back in May. In fact, this photo of the house is a crop from that photo.

Yesterday afternoon, this is what the house looked like. All gone.

The house beside it is in the middle of getting the same treatment. I’m sure demolition will be finished soon, if it isn’t already.

So what’s the plan for the site? As you can see above the houses are located adjacent to the school, and as I drove past yesterday, they were busy cramming portables onto the site.

So is it an expanded playground to make up for the room lost by the portables, or is it for a dreaded parking lot?

  • We rode by on our bike ride on Tuesday and noticed they were torn down too. Looked like maybe the school needed space since they have so many portables on the small lot.
