Festival Epicure

What a weekend… Over at the University the Canadian Olympic Track & Field Trials were taking place (more on that tomorrow…), and down at the riverfront is the excellent Festival Epicure.

We went on Sunday afternoon and despite the blazing sun there was a large crowd on hand. I was a bit disappointed to see a large number of Tecumseh Restaurants on hand. However it might have been good for them as that is probably the only chance they’ll get for me to try their wares. There are so many great independent restaurants in the City of Windsor of any style you can think of, that I don’t see the need to take my entertainment dollars to the suburbs. I’ll support those that support my city.

I also spied the Windsor eats booth. Run by a local team (brother and sister) they are both passionate about local area restaurants (yes even Tecumseh :)) and run a website with details on many local restaurants, including full menus… If you haven’t visited them before, check out their awesome site.

Adriano, the king of Windsor Eats, talk about an upcoming winery bike tour around the county… If you’re into long distance riding, check their blog for more details. They were also holding a raffle draw for the ever popular Wii…

As always entertainment on the main stage was first class.

If you missed it this year, or have never been before, make sure you check it out in 2009. Support our festivals or we’ll lose them, and support your local restaurants too.

  • It's good to see there's still some life left in this old city. Maybe the same minds that gave us Festival Epicure can finally do something about all the poltholes on the city streets.
