A recent postcard find is this double shot of the Essex Dairies Buildings located in Essex. Does anyone recognize any of these buildings? Are they still around, or is Essex as good at perserving built heritage as Windsor is?

I remember Sunday drives to Essex during the summer, for a glass of buttermilk. Since I must have been only 4 or 5, all I had were mental memories until I saw your picture today.
Now, I cleary recall the building.
Do you think people would even consider that being called "fun" in 2008?

I'm not sure if either of these was the 'victim' but I recently read that in 1942 Branch 201 of the Royal Canadian Legion reorganized and purchased a former dairy located at the corner of Cameron and Talbot. The building was updated around '67 and again in '75.
I do recall a dairy bar in more recent years across the street from this site.
Given all the catatrophes Essex has endured it is a wonder many old buildings remain in this town. Of course this town did make what we may now consider errors in judgement and demolished its share of landmarks. People are people.
The top photo is on the east side of Talbot St in Essex. The building was the W.E.&L.S Urban Railway ticket station in Essex and then the SX Dairy and then became the Essex Branch 281 Royal Canadian Legion.
The lower photo was the Essex Dairy Bar on the west side of Talbot almost directly opposite the other. I think the Essex Dairy Bar burned down but I'm not sure. It was still operating in the later 1970's.
I remember this building when I was a kid. It burned down in the late 80s or early 90s.
