Spitfires Regretfully Announce the Passing of Team Captain Mickey Renaud

February, 18, 2008

“Windsor Spitfire Captain Mickey Renaud suddenly collapsed at his Tecumseh home and was transported to Windsor Regional Hospital with absent vital signs. All attempts were made at resuscitation and were unsuccessful at the emergency room,” commented Windsor Spitfires Team Physican Dr. Roy Diklich.

“This is the biggest tragedy in Spitfire history. Words alone cannot describe our pain at this time,” said Windsor Spitfires Vice-President and General Manager Warren Rychel.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the Renaud family during this most difficult time,” commented Windsor Spitfires President and Head Coach Bob Boughner.

  • Didn't follow him or hockey for that matter but my heart goes out to the family and colleagues of this handsome young talented man. May you all be comforted in time....

  • I saw this posting yesterday and at the time did not think too much of it as I was not particularly knowledgeable about Mickey or his hockey accomplishments. Then I saw a clip of him on TV and it hit home. He reminds me a lot of my nephew who is a hockey fanatic and has that same crazy blonde hair. Then I read what a good kid he was and I wanted to at least write something here and wish the Renaud family my condolences. I am not a Facebook fan so my words will not appear there but I as much as teenagers take some knocks from adults there are a lot of good kids out there and I can tell Mickey was right at the top.
