Above is a shot looking north on Drouillard from Wyandotte St., during the Ford Blockade of 1945. Sadly everything north of the Windsor Co-operative Bakery has been demolished.
The stairs are now fenced in and filled in with concrete. The entire Drouillard Road Subway is due to be refurbished and repaired in 2007.
Even the Windsor Co-operative Bakery still stands. The entire building is now all residential, but it’s still there. If buildings could talk, I bet that one could tell some stories…

the old wells bus factory was torched by a couple of teens back late 70's early 80's ???
Drouillard road was beautiful it really is a shame when Windsor city council doesn't listen to its citizens. In my view Windsor should bring back our street cars, bring back those light posts with character not those commercial ones we have today. Living in Windsor for some time now I have come to see that when city council does not consult the people of the neighbourhood bad things happen and special interests take hold. Another thing Windsor needs to do is limit the amount of renters per district, people take pride in owning homes. And renters don't have that, every area in Windsor with high renters seems to be a bad area. Windsor could be so much more and a lot more beautiful if only city council would listen to the concern of our citizens.
