Going… Going…

So I drove by the Veteran Plumbing site yesterday morning on the way to work. The older two story building was half demolished already.

A giant hole is appearing in the streetscape.

The building eater is poised ready to get back to work destroying things.

I drove by again on my way home, and all that remained was a twisted pile of metal and wood.

The clock is ticking rapidly on the old showroom…. I’ll keep you posted.

  • Watching that go would be like watching the original Canada Salvage on Ottawa st. go. After 75 years it becomes a permanent part of the streetscape, yet in a few months only a few of us will miss the old location, sad to say. I can't knock Veteran's Plumbing for moving out. They were convenient if you lived nearby, or if you were lucky enough to get a parking space. But their new showroom is more up to the task and has adequate parking. I can only hope that it maintains its reputation as the place where you can find that oddball part you can't find anywhere else, and someone behind the counter who knows what it is and where to look for it.

  • The original Canada Salvage was downtown, I think it was on Pitt St., until the late sities or early seventies. The location on Ottawa St. was either a Loblaws or Dominion store.
