Master Motor Car Co. Ltd.

This building has always been a mystery.

Located on McDougall just south of Wyandotte St. in Windsor

This building was at least a showroom, but was it also a factory at one point? Pink on the maps usually indicated industrial buildings.

You can see behind the Veteran Plumbing sign, remnants of “Hudson Service”. A faded sign painted on the side facing Wyandotte St. also refernces Hudson Motors.

This was to be Master Motor Cars, I don’t think they ever existed, blame the depression. Hudson was in here at one time, I’m assuming sales/service. I have also seen reference made to GM Coach & Truck being in this building too… It has recently been fixed up, and windows have replaced the white plywood, however it is still empty.

Anyone have any memories of this place?

  • Nice shots A - as usual - looks to be an old dealership? You say Hudson? I wish I knew and finding this shit out is always a hell of a lot of fun!!

  • Did you ever trace any more info for that mystery factory photo you posted a month or so back? I may have missed a follow-up when I was out of town and it had my interest.

  • Mac, nothing yet. I have another lead to follow up on though. I will post if I uncover anything.

  • I used to live in Windsor, and am now trapped in Montana for a bit. You pictures are giving me a tonne of drive to move back yonder, and perhaps snatch up one of these bad boys. Renovate them.
P.S. Still missing my Tunnel BBQ and Tim Hortons.

  • Hi,
I used to work for Veteran Plumbing in Windsor. To the best of my knowledge this building was a car wash prior to about 1955. The Original owner of Veteran Plumbing acquired the building around that time. From about the mid 50s on it was warehouse and storage space for Vets plumbing. Unfortunately The Original Veteran Plumbing and Supply was sold in 1999, and all the history along with it. However the original owner is in his late 80s now and lives in FLA. Hope this sheds some light.

  • Thanks Renee, you can still see a faded painted sign on the north wall facing Wyandotte St. advertising a car wash. It blows teh mind to think that sign has been outdated for a half century. That makes the Hudson sign even older...

It's sad that the new owners moved it out of the core. The building on Wyanadotte & McDougall is looking rough in its vacant state and is scheduled for demolition soon.

  • This is such an old thread - don't know if it's active at all. However, I found a Master truck and am trying to research it. I found that there was a Master Motor Car Company out of Cleveland, Ohio from 1907 to 1920. Is this thread referring to Windsor Ontario? Where is the Windsor you are referencing?
