Windsor Centennial Celebration - 1954

The centennial celebrations of 1954 were a big deal, and city wide celebrations were held. This photo is dated September 2, 1954, and the caption on the back reads: “Duchess of Kent, Mayor Reaume of Windsor, and Princess Alexandra stand to receive welcome by guest at banquet in Prince Edward Hotel.” More info about Princess Alexandra can be found here. Carnegie Library

Built in 1903, and designed by John Scott and Co. of Detroit (the same architects who designed the Boer War Memorial), Windsor had the first Carnegie Library approved in Canada, although delays caused it to be the second one to open… The building opened October 16…
