579 Church
May 8, 2015
Scene of an intentionally set fire earlier this week, 579 Church is probably not long for this world.
These photos above date from 2002, and in the last 13 years, the house has suffered from a lack of maintenance and care, but was still a great old Queen Anne style house.
Hiram Walker & Sons Front Entrance - c 1892
May 6, 2015
A detail shot from the archives of Mason & Rice, showing the front entrance on Riverside Drive today, of the Hiram Walker & Sons headquarters. It’s amazing how little this building has changed in 123 years. One of the few things in Windsor that hasn’t…
Kingsville Station - 1899
May 1, 2015
A nice old photo from the Mason & Rice archives. The station in Kingsville was designed by Mason & Rice and built in 1888 as part of the Lake Erie, Essex and Detroit River Railway which was built by Hiram Walker. Although the railway is now long gone, the station still stands today in Kingsville, and is home to the Mettawa Station Restaurant.
Have a great weekend everyone, see you back…
Hiram Walker Staff - 1893
April 17, 2015
From the Mason & Rice archives, comes this great shot of the entire staff (I’m assuming just the office staff) of Hiram Walker & Sons, gathered on the lawn behind the office on Riverside Drive in 1893.
There’s an impressive array of mustaches on…
End Of The Line For 839
March 13, 2015
Back in 2001, I took a few shots of a great old house at 839 Assumption. Signs pointed to it being built about 1906, although I suspect it was about 10-15 years older. A well worn, old inner-city home.
It sold cheap in the summer of 2007….
It was horribly remodeled…
City Hall - 1972
March 11, 2015
A view looking at the west entrance of City Hall in August, 1972. Shot from the old police headquarters, you can see the old police cars parked on City Hall Square.
Interesting to see the original entrance before it was filled in, like it is today. Also interesting to see…
