Here are some historic photos from the International Metropolis Archives.
This one is for reader Brian who asked about the Henkel House.
The photo is captioned “Robert Henkel House”, 1913.
Chrysler Canada Plant # 3 – 1933
Chrysler Canada Plant # 1 – 1933 – Tecumseh Rd & McDougall Ave.
Ford Canada Powerhouse, where new boliers and equipment, recently installed as part of a $2,000,000 power plant mdernization programme, produce steam at 900 lbs. pressure – Highest in Canada.
The body plant, office building and dock.
Above is the 14 ¼ acre machine shop, and new foundry and heat treat building.
In this vast plant, all of which lies within a one mile circle, some 7,000 men find employment.
Thanks a lot for posting that!
What a wonderful photo to find! Thank you for sharing it. I was doing some geneology research and Googling Robert Henkel brought me here. I would appreciate any one’s further information or photos on the family or the Henkel flour mill. I’ve heard they lived in Winsor, but the mill was in Detroi,t so he commuted by boat. Later I believe he lived in Detroit. Thanks in advance for any time/effort you take to answer. I can tell your sight is a labor of love.

I love seeing the old plants! Ford’s Power House and Foundry are the only ones still standing. The Chrysler Plant is still there, but I don’t think mauch, if any of the original building is there.
In the fourth pic. down, is the building to the left of the Power House, Bellevue Hospital ?
Answered my own question. The building is Ford City School. (demolished)
