A view of the intersection of Walker & Tecumseh roads looking north in April, 1950. Oftentimes the old pictures we feature here are remarkable for the buildings shown that we’ve lost, but this I find remarkable for how little we have going on. Walker & Tecumseh is a major intersection, in what is now the heart of the urban part of the city. Here in this shot, there’s a lane in each direction on Walker Road with a gravel median in the middle. I would have to say there’s be a lot of changes and a lot more traffic at this intersection over the 70 years since this shot was taken.
