A similar view today. Waffle’s just sold the building in the last couple of months, and has moved on.
Interesting to note on the Fire Insurance Map from 1937, it shows the business as Moncur-Waffle.
Moncur’s is still in business today, on Eugenie. A partnership that soured?
Hopefully the new owners keep the building as it is. I vote for no stucco… 🙂
Did you know that they are building a stucco town? The new commercial plaza on County Road 22 (I think at Patillo) is made to look like all different shops so they’ve made them different stucco colours and decorations, even though they are attached. It’s a visual nightmare. Don’t drive by, you may have a heart attack!
Victoria Rose, I have seen that awful mess as well. I couldn’t even make out most of teh shops in the plaza’s.

Waffle Electric is closed? Wow … I had no idea. I was there a few years ago to purchase a new electric motor for my parents exhaust fan in their kitchen. They could come up with a replacement electric motor for just about anything at that place, and it was usually in stock.
One more reason to avoid the county 🙂

I work for the owners of this building and they are very historically conscious. The new owner bought the building not only because he owns the block west of the building but because Waffles Electric was his first job at 15 years old. He looks fondly on the building and his other properties show a respect for preservation.
