Here’s an interesting shot of Ottawa Street looking west from Langlois towards Parent from the mid 1940’s. A gas station still occupies that corner.
I’ve been scanning/cleaing up lots of old area black & whites. I will be posting them next weekend.
Hope everyone had a good weekend. I’ll post another in the morning.

Hi Lilly, that Monarch was originally King George, built in 1914. It’s on the list, one of these days, I’ll have it up…

thank you so much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Beautiful photo. I’m currently writing a YA novel set during the 1940s. I was born in Ottawa but now live in Alberta and I’m having difficulty find info set during that time in Ottawa (everything on line seems to be American). I’d appreciate any library book titles or online sites you cold suggest. Thank you.
Hi Andrew, first time writer but long time visitor of your great blog. Do you happen to have any of these older photos in a higher resolution? I’d love to print some off and frame them for my place. Thanks!
I believe Andrew does sell certain photos he takes. Great price for one-of-a-kind shots.
