Farrell Apartments – 1929 – Moy & Assumption

Built in 1929, the Farrell Apartments, was built by Steve Farrell, a local developer, who built the 14 family building at the corner of Assumption & Moy. The architect of this one was J. P. Thomson, who’s firm is still active today. The was a large outcry over the proposed apartment building in an area planned with only single family homes, and duplexes. The final building that was eventually built, differed slightly from the rendering above, but it was fairly close. It was, and remains a pretty handsome building.

The building, still stands, and is well maintained at the south west corner of Assumption & Moy. A smaller parapet and a different window arrangement on the left side of the building, but well maintained.
