From the December, 1923 issue of “Construction” is the picture above. Unfortunately there is no other information about the location. As I’ve said before, I’m severely lacking in my knowledge of the county. Does anyone recognize the building? Is it still around?
The only notations with the picture are:
Architect, Norman McEvers, Windsor and Contractors, Ernest Clarke, Ltd. Windsor.

It's still around, although you wouldn't easily recognize it as this, as this is the south facade which, then, would have looked over a beautiful, large green lawn (like Kennedy), but now is destroyed by ball diamonds and chain link fencing and bus bays The East facade faces Sandwich St and has typical post-modern add-on treatment.
Interesting that you feature this view as I always thought there was a chance to, one day, eliminate the ball diamonds and chain link and highlight a large green lawn once again, drawing focus to this facade. Aburg is bankrupt in so many ways..

The school board has done a poor job of maintaining the landscaping (I use that term loosely) directly in front of this old section of the high school. The shrubbery there has gone long untrimmed and trees are sprouting from within them. It does this magnificent part of the school a disservice.

Another off topic ..But Canada Motor Lamp is now officially gone they left the facade till the last but it's an interesting view now as you can see all the way to the old Young Spring & Wire from Seminole st. I drove by yesterday and was surprised to the view, just some piles of rubble scattered on the old concrete floor ( soon to be parking lot? )just an uneducated guess ???
I went to General Amherst(the building)in 1970 thru 1974. I actually attended Sandwich Secondary which shared the building. General Amherst students went from, I believe, 6:00 am to 12:00, then we would come in from 12:00 to 6:00 pm if memory serves. It was great because you could do homework in the morning or on the bus. It would suck in the winter getting home in the dark, tho.We lived on Martin Lane in River Canard and had about a half hour bus trip.Sandwich Secondary School wasn't ready until 1975, and looks like a prison, hardly any windows.
