From the Border Cities Star – November 15, 1927:

Shown here is Assumption College’s $300,000 classroom building, construction work on which has just been completed. The structure fronts Patricia road, but the rear, which faces the other college buildings, is similar in design to the front. It provides Assumption with accommodations for 800 students.

The first sod for the building was turned early in the spring, and the work was pushed so rapidly that classes were being conducted there in September. During the past five or six weeks the stone tower, which rises 30 feet above the top of the structure, was completed, and other finishing touches were attended to.

This building is well-equipped with classrooms, laboratories, officials’ offices a reference library, lockers, a students’ cafeteria and other modern conveniences.

$300,000 in 1927, is equivalent to about $4,000,000 today. Hope everyone had a nice weekend.

  • Always liked this building...had a few classes in it when I went to the University for a year.
    An oldie but a goodie.

  • It's a beauty. Always liked going to English classes in this building while at the U.
Also, is it not Dillon Hall? Seems it underwent a partial renovation of the interior last year. Glad it's getting the attention and use it deserves.

  • Nearly all of the classrooms in this building have been renovated over the past 3 years to include modern furnishings and technology.
