Another vintage photograph from the John Stefani collection, this view along Devonshire has hardly changed at all. Car # 406 from the Erie Line is shown heading north south along Devonshire towards Riverside Dr Wyandotte St. This shot would have been taken from near the front of the old Train Station around 1935.

Great image!! And a rarety to see two classic buildings still standing today! And without any vinyl! Does the Bernie or John Stefani collection have something that might show the routes or layout of the SWA rail system? That would be interesting to see!

Talk about an image that makes me sad for our city. We could do things right back in the ’30’s, but continuously screw things up 70 years later. I thought we were supposed to get wiser as we matured as a municipality?
Can you imagine how popular Windsor would be if we still had those streetcars in operation?
I don’t think I’ve said this yet, but a big “Thank You” goes out to Bernie Drouillard and John Stefani for preserving these images, and to Andrew for publishing them, reminding us how much of our heritage we have squandered.

Andrew looking at the direction of the trolley pole #406 is heading south on Devonshire towards Wyandotte St.. This photo would have been taken between 1924 – 1939, #406 was built in 1924 by the Ottawa Car Co. and was out of service in 1939.
