The Calcot Hotel is long gone. A google search of the address reveals an Oil Change Shop, a Porn Shop and a Car Rental Place. It was on the west side of Howard Ave. between Eugenie and McDougall. Does anyone out there remember this place?

The Calcot was a Remington Park standard for many years. A favourite drinking hole for the working class. They sponsored a lot of community sports ( a lot of baseball teams). It was walking distance for just about everyone in the park.
The Embassy used to house a recording studio in the basement. I never knew the name of it, but when I was a teenager, I played in the house band at the Embassy and used that old recording studio as our clubhouse. Incredible accoustics and we just had to move our instruments up the stairs to go to work. It was my first "real" job as a musician. Too bad I grew up, 'cause that was a fun way to earn a living.
