Marine Hospital

From an old postcard.

Was this the hospital on the east side near the river?

  • I found this information on the internet: "...the southwest corner of Jefferson and Mt. Elliott Avenues, with a frontage of two hundred and seventy-four feet on Jefferson Avenue..."

They even have a sketch of the hospital which matches the photograph you posted. The Public Health Service Website says the hospital was closed converted to a clinic in 1969 and closed in 1981, although I suspect it wasn't the original building.

    It was at this URL:

  • Correction, the Hospital converted to a clinic, but by the time it closed, it had been moved to another location further to the East, near Harbor Island.
