Car # 198 – Freight car

Another one marked # 198. Same car as above? Or did they some how use the same number twice?

Car # 301 on London St. – Photo from April 25, 1938 – The S.W. & A. must have made a mint off of Winchester Cigarettes. Seems like they had an ad on ever car at one point…

Car # 301 – Photo from August, 1937.

Car # 364 – This photo is noted as being on the scrap line.

Car # 374 – Photo taken as the car is northbound on Ouellette, just approaching the Wyandotte St. intersection. A corner of the Douglas Building is visible on the right.

    Car #95 looks like the electric equivilent of a Jordan Spreader. So yes, it would be used for snow “relocation”……

    #95 could be used for multiple things. Jordan Spreader was originally created to move ballast around the contours of the rail head. Later ideas came as to help push snow off of the center of the rail, and avoid having costly problems with late trains and also derailments with hard compact snow.

    According to the fleet list 95 was a work flat car which was rebuilt as a plough after 1919.

    Andrew, does there exist a route map of the day for these streetcars? I know they ran out to tecumseh and aburg. But, what routes through the downtown and walkerville…?

    I know this may not be a topcial post to today’s news, but I was wondering if anyone had a map of the inter-urban streetcar lines that ran through Windsor? I’m about to write an article and a map of the old system would help my cause immensely..

    the photo of car #198 is in all likely hood a maintenance dept car the ladder up the side and top platform would suggest it was used for working on the overhead cantenary system
