Another week gone. Here’s a view of the north east corner of Ouellette and Park and the long lost Prince Edward Hotel. This building came down in the 1970s and was replaced with the less than inspiring Scotia Bank building.
Have a great weekend everyone, see you back here Monday.
The Prince Edward was the grand dame of Windsor Hotels. It was a Sheraton hotel at one time (the Sheraton Prince Edward), and had a large ballroom with a balcony, a large dining room called the Towne Room overlooking Park Street, and a wonderful oasis called the Fisherman’s Cove, all decked out in nautical paraphernalia and with an underwater motif. Not to be overlooked was a nice little pub called the Piccadilly, downstairs in the basement off Ouellette Ave. The lobby was grandly designed and gave the aura of a first class hotel of the classic age.
