W.E. & L.S. Railway – Car # 507 – 1939

Back in 2008 in this post, we took a look at the Windsor, Essex and Lake Shore Rapid Railway. In that post you can see the cars being shipped out of town. While the other post shows pictures from December, 1939, this one dates to August 24, 1939. This was the first car shipped to Montreal, it may have been a test sale of the one car, before they paid for, and shipped all the other cars out of town. Photo from the collection of Bernie Drouillard and digitized for us by John Stefani. As always a big thanks goes out to those two guys for sharing with all of us.

This picture was taken on Howard Avenue at Hanna, the photographer would have taken the photo from in front of the Romeo Machine Shop. The old Champion Spark Plug Factory can be seen on the right of the photo.
