Designed by the Windsor firm of Sheppard & Masson, the third and current Windsor City Hall was built in 1957. Threats have stated to surface that it may soon be replaced. Here today is an early architectural rendering of the proposed new City Hall.
I’ll have to dig up more info on City Hall, so at least the history will be well documented before they decide to knock it down too.

Yes, it’s amazing how “Fast Eddie” can’t afford to pay pensions to future city workers, and wants to sell off the city parks, claiming that said city is just too cash strapped. Meanwhile, out of the other side of his mouth, he brags to the media about he can’t wait to build this new City Hall. Interesting, don’t you think?
What is up with people today who think a building that is only 55 years old needs to be replaced? If people thought like that 100 years ago we would have none of our historic buildings standing.
Too bad original City Hall wasn’t standing.

As a kid growing up in Windsor during the ’50s and ’60s, I heard various people refer to the “new” city hall as the head office of Sunoco because of its blue cladding.
City hall definately needs a touch up.
My parents / grandparents generation thought it was a huge disappointment when it was built, and other than the fact it is now older, I can’t see how that judgement would change. The right side of the picture looks like a parking garage.
Its an ugly, cheap looking building probably has standard, heating, cooling, wiring etc issues that buildings of that age have but so what, there is not a need to build another one at this point, if its a bit cramped then move some offices to Ouellette where there are is plenty of office space available. As other people have said here, if we don’t have money for parks, neighbourhood pools etc then we surely don’t want to spend tens of millions of dollars on another unneeded city building to gratify a politicians ego. I have never judged a city on the quality of its municipal buildings but I have judged them on the way it supports the quality of life in its residential neighbourhoods.
whoever had the idea that we need to spend more money on city hall can go ride an e-bike down E.C. row.
If the city needs more office space why not use the vacant parts of the Crysler headquarters that they are paying rent for already?
