A neat shot, looking at the Jackson Park Gates, this photo was taken about 1935. This shot was also a used in postcards, so to some readers it may look familiar.
The gates were designed by Pennington & Boyde and built in 1931.
The gates look pretty much the same today, despite the strike time Streetview shot.
Every time i wonder something it shows up here.
Does anyone know why the gate is locked and the sidewalks
fenced off from the road?

They are/were re-doing the sidewalks.
nice photo unfortunatley as stated it was during the strike i think those shrubs need to be pruned back so that wall shows thru more i like the black and white photo much more it seems like more though was put into the landscaping
Ahh yes, the memories of being held hostage by a union. Luckily Windsor is changing, and the CAW is in survival mode.

Aaron, I’ve driven by the gates several times over the winter and it seems to me as those sidewalks are closed off because they just redid them over the summer and the special concrete they used would be damaged by road salt. They probably just close that area off over the winter to save the new sidewalks from wear and tear.
