This one has a caption on the back “The Cake on Ouellette Avenue”, and bears the date June 5, 1954.
Taken during the celebrations the first time Windsor celebrated a centennial in 1954. Once wasn’t enough, and they decided to do it again in 1992. The first one was the anniversary of Windsor’s founding. The second time was to celebrate the centennial of Windsor’s incorporation as a city. IMO the second one was just an excuse to have a celebration. So 2004, which was the 150th anniversary of Windsor’s founding, was completely ignored.
As always the details in the photos that catch a moment in time are my favourite parts.

If that pic was actually taken on June 5th, it must have been a very chilly day for that time of year judging how people are dressed.
Environment Canada records show Windsor on June 5th, 1954 as having a low of 6c and high of 18c under variable clouds.
I remember that cake in 1992. It was a very hot day – we were going to have a piece but it did not look very appetizing (or safe) melting in the heat, so we we passed.
Can anyone make out whereabouts this was placed? I see large trees in the background. Which leads me to think it’s on the east side of Ouellette and the photographer is facing south. Just a guess. I can’t really make out any definite landmarks.
Ken, I think you are correct. The only clue would be the Tunnel Busses sign in the background.

Way bck in the fifties their was a parking lot on the east side of Ouellette their was a parking lot,it ran parrel to the tunnel property.Along the street side was a rose garden, then amassingly somebody built a hotel. the hotel still stands today. The display was on the parkinglot and the sidewalk, between Park and the bus exit.
