Located on Walker Road, just north of Tecumseh Rd., was one of the last traces of the old Walker Road. This old Farmhouse dated to the 1880, and was the residence of the manager of the Walker Farms. A brief history of the Farm can be found here.
A drive by on Friday afternoon, showed the site scraped clean.
The old Victorian farmhouse had been vacant since the last tennant moved out in 1998. The new owners CBS outdoors recently accquired the building along with its neighbour to the south the Teron building, and weren’t keen on the liability of the rodent infested building.
The building on the Windsor Heritage Property Inventory List, a sad loss as more of our history is again tossed aside.

What a waste !!! I’m sure the rodent problem could have been easily taken care of. As far as the new owner not wanting the house,someone could have bought and moved it to a different location. Other historical buildings and homes just like this have been successfully re-located in the past.
What a shame!! That would have been a great renovation project. Unlike a new home you can sense the amount of character that house had!!!

I watched it come down. The big teeth ripping down the roof. Ugg. It took less than a day.
What a cryan shame. Really. That building, rodent infested or not, appeared to be structurally sound and worth something to someone surely. Thanks for getting a great photo of it before it disappeared.
My fiance goes to the school next door. Apparently it was a crack house. They always found needles and condoms in the area. I don’t think they tore it down just because of the rodents…
Too bad though, it was a nice looking house.
This act will never be forgiven. Go figure, I would have thought that Hiram Walker Distilery’s would have done something with this?
Luc, sadly, the distillery is nothing more than a brand portfolio to a faceless corporation. My Grandfather worked at HW as a plumber for his whole career. Sadly now they don’t value the heritage or the employees.

If this was the Walker Farms manager’s house, he lived a long way from the farms. They were located on 3rd Concession, Sandwich East, now the lcation of EC Row. It was called Walker’s Circle. Huge barns, brahma bulls, etc. Anybody have pictures of that?
Shirley, that was the Walker Farms too. Back when this house was built c. 1890, the farms were at Walker & Tecumseh out to where the Airport is today.
