I’d like to know what the police are going to do about it since its been on the news. It is illegal to dump garbage and the city workers just did it. Is CUPE now above the law like Jim Wood getting his parking tickets cancelled. To think that people like this actually work for us, the taxpayer, is outrageous. This attitude of arrogance, priviledge and being above the law has got to stop. Time to privatize, privatize, privatize. How does it feel to be hated by 99% of the city CUPE?

It doesn’t matter that they are the cream of the crop when it comes to benefits. Their wages aren’t bad either but the rest of us peons…well tough shit! We either pay up and like it or we can move to where they live…the suburbs!

Last night while I was at the Arena, after driving a few of the Spits in the Parade, and seeing the Mayor standing in the 1 area, with his daughter, he seemed worried look on his face. I think that the CUPE guys have basically caused enough problems on this city, and are creating major headaches for not only us, but Stressing out others, to where they have to watch there back the entire time… I feel for this man because not only is he getting harassed at work, but after yesterday, the union has brought them self down to the lowest they can be, and Bothered him at home with his family. I think the city needs to do what Tecumseh and Lasalle and many other communities have in our area, and outsource all the garbage pick up and other duties to outside companies, and then we will see… I am just getting fed up with reading about all the junk the CUPE people doing, and there union is blatantly lying out there… As a comment was posted on the Windsor Star today, in the 1 article, a person commented, on how there company asked the union to see if they would help them, so they could stay alive and take a cut back and other items, and they union agreed, but that they get these items back when times get better… Now look at the City workers and what they are doing, the exact opposite of what Industry is doing, and they are getting no help now from the public… They had some at the beginning now they get sweet all…. I think the city should just cut all the jobs and start all over with outside workers and other people who are willing to work….

Time to give3 in CUPE, you’ve lost almost all public support in this city. Your leadership is a disgrace, all of you troublemakers have given every local union a bad name.
Speaking of the Windsor Star comments section, I had to laugh at one of the suggestions for a new bumper sticker, “Nice job CUPE. Out of a job yet?”
Ahh yes Dan. Sorry but I must be a mental case because I am not a big union supporter to begin with.
I am certainly not a supporter of this CUPE strike. Never have never will because it disgusts me to think these people would strike when they have it as good as they do. The city isn’t taking anything anyway from them yet they are striking for people who aren’t even hired yet and according to the news and their leader, wages. Yet I am the mental case. I would think a few psychologists would beg to differ.

The video is disgusting and the person should be fined and face any other relevant sanctions. I don’t support this strike given what is going on with other (Union & Non-Union) companies downsizing, cutting salaries & benefits. But on that note, what does this video have to do with Architecture of Windsor and the Border Region?
You would think that with employment opportunities shrinking within the auto industry, that some union folks would have a greater appreciation for their steady paycheques—–particularly those who get paid by taxpayers. While it is a small number of agitators who tarnish the reputation of organized labour, it would be great to see the majority of union people do something about their idiot brethren.
Not wanting to lump all of the CUPE members in one gooey mass, as we all have friends or know someone who may be in this union or caught up in this dispute, I still find it makes my blood boil when it is obvious that these people don’t even realize that most taxpayers have set up an IRA for themselves and thier family.
Why shouldn’t CUPE have to do the same as every other non-union taxpayer.My taxes shouldn’t have to go to thier kids retirement.
It has been questioned as to whether this subject matter or matters of this nature should be discussed in this forum. I for one think that it should as it affects the very fabric of the community and its future development. It can be discussed without ‘bashing’ unions in general and by objectively addressing the issues at hand. I agree that some of the tactics that some of the union members are out of line and should be addressed. Times are changing and the approach unions are taking to secure pay and benefits needs adjustment. The bully days are over. Unfortunately every union has ‘bullies’ and militants but in my experience these are the minority. It is a messy situation to say the least.
I was at the foot of Ouellette earlier today and swear I saw her wearing a beige shirt and the same baseball cap near their white homebase tent. Looks like nothing happened to her. I also saw CUPE workers unloading signs and stuff from BMWs there and I’m like, wtf is that? You have these high paying CUPE and you don’t even buy North American union made? They even had a little trash mountain going on there. So, a lot of them live in Tecumseh and LaSalle instead of paying Windsor taxes, driving around in their high end foreign made cars, and making the taxpayers’ city look like a cesspool with an attitude. They’re not even being asked to take a pay cut or a cut in benefits. In fact, the city’s offering them a $1,000 bonus if they come back to work. The arrogance. This is just wrong. So wrong. It’s time for our mayor to do what Mayor David Bing’s doing in Detroit right now–10% pay cut across the board for city workers.
