Elmwood Motor Hotel – Dougall Ave – 1960

0522

In the late 1950s a large expansion occurred at the Elmwood, which involved the construction of a new motel section. I had long wondered who was the architect responsible. I had always assumed that it was done by out of town architects as there aren’t many large motel developments in the city. While going through some old ads the other day though, I came across this picture above from 1960. So there it is, the motel section of the Elmwood, was designed by the local architecture firm J.P. Thomson.

Have a great weekend eveyrone. See you back here Monday.
