As a follow up to a post from February, I had been asked a few times by different readers to post a follow up photo.
Here’s one that I took on a drive by this past weekend. Hard to imagine that this was ever there…

Nice. Now we there will be a large lot full of weeds on the riverfront to improve the city’s image. I guess it’s better than a rotted out dump or a parking lot.
I don’t understand why there isn’t more development near the casino, especially on riverside.
Why not have some commercial/residential high rise there? Is it really that bad to be next to the casino? Most people I know like to be able to go outside and walk around, the reason they come over, they don’t want to do that around the detroit casinos.
I can remember going into that house in the early 60s. It was apartments then. And I needed to go to the apartment in what turned out to be the attic. I don’t think it would pass code today. I was young then , but it was still a heck of a climb.
NOT TO GET OFF TOPIC BUT!! THE FORMER TIM HORTONS AT GILES AND OUELLETTE FINALLY FELL I WAS WAITING FOR THE BUS THIS MORNING WHEN THE GAGNON GOBBLER TOOK THE FIRST BITE OUT OF THE BUILDING APPARENTLY THE BUILDING HAS BEEN SOLD AND I THINK I HEARD A DOCTOR BOUGHT IT AND MIGHT REBUILDON THE SPOT I DIDN’T HAVE A CAMERA OR CELL PHONE WITH ME SO…NOT PHOTOS UNFORTUNATELY
That’s exciting to hear about the Tim’s at Oullette & Giles finally coming down. I was just mentioning to my fiancee that I can remember back when it was a very happening corner downtown! That intersection could have some new life breathed into it, but a doctor’s office isn’t what I was hoping for.
About these old houses next to the casino. That area looks like such a dump, some of those houses should have been torn down long ago, but at the same time we see nothing going up, just more empty lots. 🙁
I’m new btw. 🙂
