ARCITECTS DRAWING FOR $1,500,000 CLUB BUILDING
This 12 story building was designed by Pennington & Boyde, it was supposed to be built at Pitt & Dougall. It was going to be home to the North American Athletic Club.
The plan was for floors 5-11 to be filled with rooms, similar to the YMCA.
It’s a shame that these buildings featured this week weren’t realized. Windsor might have looked very different if these building had risen beyond the drawing board.
It’s too bad the City of Windsor would never take these architectual plans and finally see this building get built since it’d never happen in the private sector. This would make an awesome new city hall instead of looking at that turd we now call home in downtown and it would also pay tribute to one of Windsor’s most famous architects. Nah, they’ve got more important things to waste their money on like tearing down the clearly guest house for an ugly, overpriced bunker and buying 10 year leases for Detroit’s side of the Windsor Tunnel.
