Osterhout's Restaurant & Confectionery

Up today is this postcard view of Osterhout’s Restaurant & Confectionery, from the early 1920’s. This place was located in what was then known as the Exchange Building, before being sold to George Wilkinson for use as a shoe store. This is one of the rare examples of a building that kept its address through the renumbering of 1937. The address today is still 333 Ouellette Ave.

Top Valu

The Top Valu car wash and gas station has been wiped from the landscape. Any Eastsiders out there know what, if anything is going to pop up…

Campus Of The Future

Every once in a while I come across a postcard that makes me wonder just what someone was thinking. Someone’s blurry out of focus shot of a model on a table turned into a postcard. 🙂 The caption on the back of this one reads: Scale Model of “Campus of the…

Ottawa Street & Langlois - 1940's

Happy Friday, once again, we’ve got an old Windsor Photo to look at. This old shot was taken by Sid Lloyd, Windsor’s pre-eminent commercial photographer of the 1930’s, 1940’s and 1950’s. Each and every one of his photographs were works of art.
