Windsor – Detroit Subway – 1925

One to file in the proposed, but unbuilt files. From November 1925, came this proposal for an electric subway train under the river linking Windsor and Detroit.

The caption in the lower left reads as follows:

The architect’s drawing pictured above, shows one of the proposed terminals for the electric train subway which the Detroit Subways Company proposes for its scheme to link the Border Cities and Detroit by tunnels under the river. One of these terminal buildings would be erected in the central portion of Detroit and the other in central Windsor. Another drawing, pictured elsewhere, portrays the type of automobile subway terminal to be used. In the above cut, the terminal is shown as a many-storied office building with space for offices and stores. The lower part of the drawing reveals the entrance and exit, where foot passengers would board and leave the electric trains proposed to convey passengers from one side of the river to the other.

A close up view of the entrance and exit to the subway. Too bad this never came to be.

Have a great weekend everyone, see you back here Monday.
