Happy Friday once again everyone. Today’s photo has a date on the back of Nov. 4, 1930, although it was taken on November 1, 1930.
The caption reads:
- Crowd at the Windsor end of the new Detroit-Windsor tunnel when tunnel was dedicated. Tunnel entrance is at right in photo. Speakers stand in foreground.
A detail shot of the crowd of people gathered.
A couple of long lost houses along Park Street, where the parking lot behind the Scotia Bank is today.
See you back here Monday!
Is that a spire on the north east corner of the Armouries in that last crop? I’ve never seen a picture with anything but a flag pole there. I suppose its probably just on some other, unbeleivably ornate home that we’ve demolished.
I wonder if acrowd like that will turn out for the new bridge? Do they even do this type of stuff anymore?
Thanks Andrew!
Aron i was just thinking the same thing it seems like back then people cared more for things and took more pride in their home towns it was a different time back then as far as the new bridge getting the same attention i guess we will see great photos by way thanks!
Another thing i noticed from photos of that time people flew more flags this generation doesn’t seem to show as much patriotism i don’t know just a thought
Also note men dressed with ties and hats with there suits, women wore hats and dresses.
No jeans or hoodis either, a better time, a different life style.
richard men still wear hats these days the only problem is they all wear ball caps backwards
Aaron i guess in the bottom close up photo would that be the corner where the top hat was and where BK is now
My mistake it’s park street i better clean my specs
Look at all the hats!
I’m going to the new bridge grand opening. I am gonna dress up for it too.
…that is if it’s built in the next century
