664 Moy

This one of a kind house on Moy, just south was the scene of fire last night, as reported on Windsorite.ca There are some amazing shots there, and the house looks spruced up since the photo above was taken in February, 2004.

Hopefully the damage wasn’t too bad, and this beauty gets restored back. This house is a one of a kind in the city, and it would be a shame if it was altered.

Happy 4th of July to all of our American Friends and readers! Have a happy and safe holiday!

  • This would be a good opportunity to get the insurance company to spring for a stucco job! Could get some nice diamonds, perhaps some faux columns.. Let's go... Stucco!!!!

  • We were sitting on the porch last night and saw the lighting followed by a very loud crack- only three blocks away!

  • It is a unique design. Hopefully the damage can be repaired. In Street View the home next to it is blurred out. Anybody know why?

  • I think the house next to this house is blurred out for the same reason some faces of people in the google street view are blurred out, they don't want their face/house/kids/cars to be seen by the world at large.....just my thoughts.

  • When I went through the house in approx. 2002 it was in quite good shape. It needed a bit of work on the sleeping porch but most of it was still intact. It was built by a ship's Captain and has some maritime themes throughout it.

I agree with the above people. Hopefully it gets repaired and repaired right.

Sadly, I lost a huge brank of my maple tree last night along with the the blue spruce (the branch crashed down on the spruce snapping it in half). That makes 4 mature trees gone out of 5 in 6 years.

  • Truly heartbreaking to have watched this beauty burning. It's houses like these that are almost like portals -- they give Windsorites a little glimpse into architectural styles that are prevalent in other cities. The damage estimate was pegged at or over $100k. The three dormers will most likely have to be entirely replaced as a lot of the fire and heat was trapped within the corners.

  • There was a daycare at this house in the late 80s and early 90s "Mrs. Bevs Creative Play". My son attended there for some time. The day care was downstairs but the children had lunch in the kitchen. It is a great house with wonderful woodwork.

The sea captain story was told to the children and they loved it. The house has wonderful character. Hopefully it can be repaired.

  • I lived on Moy for 5 years in the 80's and was always intrigued by the size of this house. I knew who ever built it had to be influentual at the time.

  • There is a man restoring this house now. I guess the water from putting out the fire ruined a lot of the renovations that they had done so they started again. The bin outside is being filled and emptied regularly. Can't wait to see inside when it's done!
